Five (5) days of compassionate leave shall be granted on the death of a member of the teacher's immediate family or step family. Immediate family or step family to consist of father, mother, son, daughter, wife, husband, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and common-law spouse.
One (1) day of compassionate leave for niece, nephew, aunt, uncle.
One (1) day of compassionate leave for pallbearers.
Compassionate leave may be granted upon the application to the Superintendent on the serious illness of a member of the teacher's immediate family as defined in a) and b).
Additional compassionate leave may be granted upon application to the Superintendent.
