Up to five (5) days of absence will be allowed without loss of salary to a teacher in the case of death or serious illness in his/her immediate family. Immediate family shall be defined as: spouse, child or children, mother, father, legal guardian, brother, sister, grandparents, grandparents-in-law, grandchild(ren), mother-in-law and father-in-law.
In the case of a brother-in-law or sister-in-law, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, the teacher shall be granted up to three (3) days leave of absence without loss of salary to attend the funeral.
In the case of the death of an uncle, aunt, niece or nephew the teacher will be granted up to one (1) day leave of absence at the cost of a non-certified substitute to attend the funeral.
