The Board’s right to initiate a transfer shall be exercised fairly and reasonably having regard to all the circumstances including, in particular, the educational needs of the Division, which shall be the paramount consideration and, as a secondary consideration, the needs of the teacher involved.
Prior to any Division-initiated transfer occurring, the Division shall provide to any teacher being considered for such transfer an opportunity for consultation with respect to the transfer.
The most reasonable notice possible, given the circumstances, shall be provided to a teacher who is being transferred by the Division. A teacher who has been notified of transfer after their contractual date of resignation shall have the right to terminate their contract of employment within two (2) weeks of the date of notification.
Teachers who relocate their residence closer to their new assignment due to a Board-initiated transfer, and whose relocation exceeds 50 kilometers, shall be reimbursed by the Board moving expenses to a maximum of $1,000 against receipts.
