The Division shall provide $70,000 on an annual basis to be paid into a Division-Association Professional Development Fund for the purpose of professional development of LSTA members. The following expectations shall apply:
- The Fund shall be administered jointly by a committee consisting of equal representation from the Division and the Association.
- Release time of the teacher must be approved in advance by the Principal and Superintendent or Designate. Such release is subject to a substitute being available.
- The annual cost of substitutes shall be deducted from the annual allocation.
- At the end of each school year, the Committee will present a detailed report to the Division and the Association on the use of the funds.
- It is understood and agreed that the allocation of professional development funds from the Division-Association Professional Development Fund account to LSTA members is to be aligned/referenced to at least one of the following four qualifying criteria/areas:
- Divisional Goals
- School Goals
- Teacher Professional Learning Plan “Growth Plan/Goals”
- Teaching Assignment.
- Any unused financial amount will be redirected back to the Division on June 30th of each year.
