- In case of death of employee’s spouse, common-law partner, children, brothers, sisters, and parents, the Division will pay a substitute teacher for the period of five (5) teaching days.
For the purpose of this clause “common-law partner” shall be defined as a person of the same or opposite gender with whom an employee has established residence and lived in a conjugal relationship for at least twelve (12) months and has publicly represented that person as his/her partner.
- In case of death of mothers-in-law, fathers-in-law, and grandparents, the Division will pay a substitute teacher for the period of three (3) teaching days.
- In the case of death of an uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, or a very close friend, the Division will pay a substitute teacher for one (1) teaching day or will grant time off for the funeral. In all cases, the teacher shall notify the Division prior to taking such leave.
