ACCESS AGREEMENT
WHEREAS the Division and the Association recognize that the Association and representatives of The Manitoba Teachers' Society need to be able to transact business with their members from time to time during school hours while at the same time minimizing the impact of such contact on the teacher's instructional day, classroom activities, and obligations to the Division;
NOW THEREFORE the Division and the Association agree as follows:
(a) Staff Officers, or other Society representatives, and Association representatives shall be permitted to transact any business of the Association or Society with individual members on school property provided such business does not interfere with or interrupt the daily contact time of classroom teachers. The Society or Association representative(s) shall sign in at the main office in the school, indicate they are on Society or Association business, indicate where they will be in the school to office staff, and sign out on departure.
(b) Any requests for MTS representatives or other guests of the Association to visit a school during the instructional day for any purpose other than meeting with an individual member must be made seven (7) calendar days in advance to the Superintendent/CEO (or his or her designate), along with a description of the nature of the visit. Such visits must not interfere with the daily contact time of classroom teachers or interrupt that time. Permission to make such a visit shall be at the discretion of the Superintendent/CEO.
(c) Where the Society or Association wishes to meet with a group of teachers, or the staff of the school, the Society or Association shall give twenty-four (24) hours notice to the Principal and such meetings shall occur only on the BTA members' time.
