ARTICLE 9 - ALLOWANCES

9.01

Principals' Allowances:  Principals shall be paid an annual administrative allowance, in addition to the basic salary schedule, based upon the following effective dates:

a)        Minimum allowance:

Teacher, for the purpose of this clause, shall exclude principals, vice-principals and substitute teachers.

As to the calculation method for administrative allowances the Division will change its current practice (based upon FTE teachers) to actual number of teachers in the school, effective September 2007.

9.02

The number of teachers assigned to a school as of October 31st  shall be the basis for computation of the principal's allowance for the months of September through January, both inclusive, of that year.  The number of teachers assigned to a school as of February 15th shall be the basis for computation of the principal's allowance for the months of February through August, both inclusive of that year.  Principals' allowances shall be paid in accordance with Article 10.

9.03

Vice-Principals' allowances:  shall be an amount equal to one-half of the principal's allowance.

9.04

Head Teachers' Allowances:  Teachers designated to act for the principal, in case of absence of the principal, shall receive an allowance of one four-hundredth (1/400th) of the principal's allowance per half day of the principal's absence.

For the purpose of this article, any period of absence of the principal that is greater than ninety (90) minutes but less than one-half (˝) day shall be considered to be a half day of absence.

9.05

Administrators' Allowances:  Administrators shall be paid an allowance, in addition to the basic salary schedule, plus two (2) annual increments for each of the second (2nd) and third (3rd) years as an administrator in the Division, or such increments may be allowed for experience as an administrator elsewhere, where such experience is acceptable to the Division, as follows, effective on the following dates:

9.06

Divisional Specialists’ Allowances:  Divisional Specialists shall be paid an annual allowance, in addition to the basic salary schedule, as follows, effective on the following dates:

9.07
